Things I've Learned Whilst Building On And Moving Over

As we've went through the process of finishing up the add-on and moving our junk things over, I've learned some things.
  • We never need to buy a DS stylus again.  We officially have 17 of them...big, little, medium sized.  I counted.
  • I start off big and bad, "We're getting rid of ALL "baby" toys/puzzles/books/etc."  Then, I get all sappy and sentimental.
  • I'm still a sucker for wooden puzzles.  Apparently, I was addicted to buying them when Isaiah was little.  Now, I can't bare to part with them...even if I'm the only one who ever plays with them again.
  • 2 1/2 people and one big fat black lab living in 1176 square feet for 8 years acquire LOTS of junk.  You think it would be the opposite.  In my defense, I'm a purger...usually.  Except when it comes to wooden puzzles and baby stuff...oh, and books...I can't stand to part with books.
  • If I have one Twilight/Rob Pattinson related magazine, I have 200.  No lie.
  • I don't know how we fit this much junk stuff in that small of a space.  Perhaps we should be in the Guinness Book of World Records or something.
  • Going from 6 feet of cabinet space to 36 feet of cabinet space in my kitchen alone is LIFE CHANGING.
  • Going from my "laundry room" being in my kitchen to having my very own LAUNDRY ROOM is like winning the lottery.  It's amazing.
Here's a few pics...

Keep in mind that it's not finished.  I still have to decorate, rearrange, organize and such; but it's progress!  We're still working on the old part of the house, more pics of that soon.

Hope you're all having a great week so far!! *muah*

We have two children in 1400 sq ft and their daddy has never gotten rid of a single book. Not even the bad ones. And he reads a lot! Jealous of your new space, decorated or not.

Revamping and adding to your space is soooo exciting. There's nothing better than a "new" kitchen. It absolutely is life changing. So happy for you. Have a fabulous day. Blessings, SusanD

Wow that awesome!! :) Love it! I love your floor. We're going to be redoing our kitchen and bathroom floors next winter and that would match perfectly with our carpet/house style. Love it!!

I love the backslash, tile, sink and floors, so very trendy and cool!

I'll be waiting patiently, or not, for more pictures!

Wait, if you are almost done, does that mean we don't get to see the Christmas tree decorated for Easter?

Seriously love the floors--is that concrete?

Woohoohoohoo! I am so excited to see pictures! I love your floors and your counters and cabinets! All of it! And I know what you mean about the "stuff". I could have written this. How did we fit so much junk into one small space?!

Oh My Gosh! Your kitchen is GORGEOUS! (I want a laundry room! My stuff is in the kitchen too.) :(
I have a hard time parting with baby items, so HH got me a bin and we're just packing the things up to "save for the grand kids"

OMG, JK! It's gorgeous. Seriously.

I'm so happy for you.

I'm always amazed at what can be found when I start moving stuff around. Sometimes it's even scary! LOL!

I love those wooden puzzles too and we had a ton. I did get rid of all of the baby stuff because those days are over for us. It's amazing the amount of stuff that can be packed into a small house. Ooh, cabinet space and a laundry room...now that's something to dance about :)

It's amazing the things you find when you aren't looking for them. :)

I'm officially a de-hoarder. I've been purging and giving away stuff non-stop for over a year. We've kept ONE bin of Dominic stuff over the years. His school days are in a different bin so that's okay. (Yeah, I know how that sounds!)

I'm jealous of all the cabinet space. I want a big kitchen. Bigger than the one-butt kitchen I have now!

In order:

You can use anything for a DS stylus, in case you lose your 17 - Evie uses a wooden cuticle thingy, and also a plastic carrot that came with the horse she never plays with.

Wooden puzzles are awesome and classic! Keep them :) And books are sacred.

Do you want my RPattz mags? I'm sure you already have them, but I'd be happy to give them to you next month :)

HOW did you live with 6 feet of cabinet space? Even I have more than that, and it's not.enough. Jealous of your 36 feet!

Dedicated laundry rooms are the bomb, I'm loving mine still, 3 weeks in :)

LOVE the glass sink bowl, and the floors - are they decorated concrete, or tile??

Cant wait to meet you in Austin!!!! And I haven't forgotten about the Twilight magnet caps, just been busy :( too busy. always. sigh.

Darn those ds stylus! So glad that you located them! I am in hope that one day we will find ours along with ten million Bobby pins, batteries and rubber bands BEFORE all my girls turn 18. Congrats on the move!
