Pumpkin Decorating and Trick-or-Treating!

Pumpkin decorating and trick-or-treating...that's what Halloween is all about when you're four! Isaiah informed me that on Halloween night (he said this in his most spooky voice) after all the kids get their treats, they get their tricks! Now, in his four year old mind, I'm not sure what he thinks of as tricks. If any come up, I'll be sure to let y'all know. (Did I just throw a y'all in there...you did know I'm from Oklahoma, right? However, I normally try to type more proper than that...teeheehee...)

Here's Isaiah's Monster Pumpkin that he made! Scary, huh?

Here he was in his laboratory...or the kitchen table...but doesn't laboratory sound so much better. We also have a volcano upstairs with hot lava coming out of it. You're not supposed to step on the wood floors...unless you have the special shoes on that protect your feet from the burning hot lava =)

This is a pic of Isaiah and a few of his good friends from school while they were down town trick-or-treating...well, just treats, no tricks.

Here's one more...that robot costume cracks me up...if you push this little button on the bottom it says "take me to your leader"...lol

Hope everyone has a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Friday Confessions

**Notice: If I've never stated before how much I ADORE my DH, I'm stating it now...I adore him...LOVE him...he's the best thing since sliced bread**

Ok, now for my Friday Confessions. If you can't tell from the previous statement, DH has found out about my blog and...Friday Confessions. Do not worry, Friday Confessions will not be compromised. I would just like you to know that I have a few philosophies that I live by, one is 'tis better to ask forgiveness than permission, and two is...well, there's not technically a two, but let me just say that I believe if you tell on yourself it's not as bad as someone finding you out...so, on with the show...

  1. I have a new addiction...or should I say distraction...or maybe an alternate reality...I have discovered Twilight thanks to the adorable Miss Melissa over at The Crazy Daisy...Thanks, Melissa! This book is phenomenal! I think I'm the last person on earth to start reading it, but if you haven't...you MUST!
  2. I have a new crush...Edward. Yeah, I'm pretty sure if he walked up to my door and said, "come with me", I would say "ok". I never saw myself as the vampire kind...I'm no where near goth, but it just works for him...and me...it's HOT!
  3. I have a new friend...the manager at the Starbucks at Garnett and 71st. Not that any of you know where that is, but it's the closest in proximity to my place of employment. The manager and I, we are on first name basis. I think we're mainly friends because he makes me coffee.
  4. I have two new pairs of shoes...this is only a confession because, well, if you saw my closet you would know why. I don't have room for another pair of shoes, I don't need another pair of shoes...I have enough shoes to wear a different pair every day of the next month. My rule is that if I buy something, anything, a pair of pants, shoes, shirt...anything...I MUST give something away of equal type. However, I went through my shoes and did not see one pair that I feel like getting rid of...this is a problem. Aren't rules made to be broken?
  5. I woke up at 3:15 Tuesday morning and decided that I wasn't tired, so I got up and you know what I did? I made Lisa's Apple Crisp recipe. I have no idea why I was baking at 3:15 in the MORNING! I thought maybe I'd feel tired after that and go lay down, but nope. So, I made 3 more name banners, then I washed the dishes from baking the apple crisp, and then I watched the DVR'd version of the OU/KState game from last weekend. Football at 4:30 in the morning? I'm so weird...you may not want to be my friend anymore...it could rub off.
  6. I have been such a scatter brain this week...so many things to do, so little time to do it in! You know the kind of week! My bff was leaving Wednesday morning for STL. I went over late Tuesday evening to drop off 3 birthday gifts that I had been meaning to take over for all 3 of her girls. I figured they would enjoy taking them with them. Well, my mom had given me something to add in to one of the gifts and I had stuck it in a Gap sack along with some pants and a shirt of Isaiah's. Well, in the rush of getting the sacks ready to drop off, I put Isaiah's pants in w/ one of the birthday gifts. So, I'm picturing Gabi opening the gift and like pulling out these boys pants...that have already been worn and washed...like "wow, thanks for the used pants"...LOL...Jordana probably thinks I've went nuts-o...glad she's my bff. I've lost it.

If you're still reading this, God Bless you...

7. I talk too much.

I think that's all I've got this week...that's enough though, right?

Happy Friday!

Thursday Thankfuls

My very first Thursday Thankfuls...oh, what to write...what to say? They have to be good...they are the first. That just gave me an idea...

  1. I'm thankful for firsts...first "Thursday Thankfuls" posts, first steps, first light, first stars, first kiss, first cup of coffee...

  2. I'm thankful for fall...the beauty that surrounds me is astounding.

  3. I'm thankful for friends...especially the ones who decided to join me in counting our blessings and things we're thankful for.

  4. I'm thankful for fun...what would life be like without fun...did you ever think about that?

  5. I'm thankful for foam on top of my yummy latte (skinny w/ no sugar added)

  6. I'm thankful for freedom...our country has it's faults, but we should be so thankful for living in a place where our voices are still heard and we have the chance to speak our minds.

  7. I'm thankful for family...

I can't wait to read yours!

With Love,

jen

I've Been BOOed!

I have been BOO-ed by a friend!! :0)

Now, this is how the Blogging Boo will work. Go to as many friends as you want and tell them they've been "Boo-ed". Have them link back to your blog to pick up their Halloween Treat (picture) and tell them to "Boo" their friends. Then, put the picture in your side bar so everyone knows that you've already been "Boo-ed" and to send the pic to someone else. So, are you scared yet!!?? BOO!! Okay? one more time......

1. Take picture, put on sidebar
2. Tell people they have been booed
3. Link back to who booed you
Okay- Get to BOO-ING!

Television Observations

TV is my guilty pleasure. I have about 4 shows that I DVR and watch them faithfully. I know some people think that television is a waste of time, but I think it can also be educational and enlightening. Take a look at this list I've compiled of some observations I've made...

1. Thanks to Cloris Leachman on DWTS, I've learned that when you are old, you do not have to behave...and you can say whatever you want to...and spank people's butts...and bribe people...and no one can do anything about it. Btw, did you see Monday's DWTS...Cloris Leachman's samba....Oh my goodness, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Watch this clip of the hip-hop group dance.

2. Children go from being babies to 4 year olds in a matter of months. I don't religiously watch Desperate Housewives, but I tuned in last Sunday and noticed that the baby that Susan and Mike conceived last season is in preschool...What the??

3. There is a lot to learn about love... If you don't believe me, then just watch Grey's Anatomy. Grey's with McDreamy, McDreamy's with Addison, Addison's with McSteamy, McSteamy's was with Lexie, Lexie Loves George, George was married to Callie, Izzy loved George, George cheated on Callie with Izzy, Callie like Erica, Izzy has an ongoing thing for Alex, Alex loves lots of women...see, loves a tricky thing...much to be learned.

4. You can pick up on new vocabulary. I daily work in new words such as "seriously", used in a way that means "REALLY" or "what did you say?" or "you're kidding me" or "COME ON" or "you've GOT to be kidding me"...yes, all these phrases can be wrapped up neatly into one little box by saying "SERIOUSLY"!!! You can actually have a total conversation with the one word...seriously. For example: "I seriously need a grande mocha w/ skim milk, no whip, and 2 pumps! Seriously? Seriously!" Also there is "shut up" used without a negative connotation, mainly for instances of surprise or shock. Kinda like "get out of here" or "no way"...shut up!

5. After watching a few episodes of Ugly Betty, you realize that high school never ends it just turns into your work place and there are still cliques and groups...cool people and not so cool people. It's ugly.

Any wisdoms you've learned from television you would like to share?

Still trying to decide who to vote for?

If you're still trying to decide who to vote for, please go here:
www.ontheissues.org

www.youtube.com, just type in "Obama Infanticide".

One last thing, here's a link that shows Obama's voting record. Keep in mind that "NV" stands for "not voting"...

Many people say things that sound good and sweet, but it doesn't always mean that they are good and sweet.

I'm not trying to persuade you to believe that John McCain is the best candidate. However, I do believe he is the lesser of two evils.

Weekend Review

This weekend was one of the busiest weekends we've had in a while...it included, but was not limited to, a Fall Festival, a baby shower, Trunker-Treat, a Halloween Party, and a birthday party! So, instead of just telling you about it, here are some pictures...

Saturday Morning we set up for the Fall Festival at our church. It was all outdoors and we had fun games like a bean toss, a dart game, a fishing game...

We rented these fun trikes, which were more for the adults and "big" kids...and chickens...

Isaiah was SUPER excited...

and could NOT wait to have his turn on the bungee run!

I was up to my ears in cotton candy! I made cotton candy for 3 hours, my arm was so tired. That's hard work! :)

That afternoon, I ditched the Fall Festival and went to my friend Laura's baby shower...she's having a boy! I was also fortunate enough to see a few other friends I hadn't seen in a while...good times.

Saturday evening, we set up our inflatable spook house downtown and passed out candy at the Trunker-Treat.

Darth Vader was there.

Sunday after church, I put on our Annual Halloween Party at the American Legion. It was a success...we had candy, we had games, we had goodies, we had kids...we had FUN!

Here's a pic of some of the kiddos. We had over 30 kids! Isaiah went as a robot this time. He has many disguises.

Sunday night, we made it back to town just in time to sing Happy Birthday to my cousin Jessica...watch her blow out her candles, make a wish...then eat some cake! She's 14! I can't believe that. Her and her 16 year old sister were my flower girls in my wedding, they were 5 and 3! My how time flies...

Thanks for reading!

Have a great week!

Friendship Award! :)

Wow! Thanks a million to my blog-land friend Mistee over at Our Family Blog #2 for this friendship award! I value friendship so much, so that makes this the BEST award!! You should go check out her blog!

Ok, I now have to answer a few questions and pass the award along.

1. Do you have the same friends since childhood? Yes! Absolutely! I cherish my old friends. I hold them close and try to never let them go. My bff and I have been friends since 9th grade. Renee over at My Glimpse of Life is my cousin and bestest friend since forEVER! Seriously, we've been friends so long I can't remember when it all started. I'm also still close to at least 3 or 4 other girls who I went to grade school and high school with.

2. What do you value most about your friends? Loyalty. Isn't that what makes the best friends?! Also, humor...I thrive on finding things funny and humorous. I have to be surrounded with people who find the brighter side of things. Like my sweet and totally adorable friends from Cafemom, Melissa and Lisa! Love you girls!!

3. Are your friends sounding boards? Sometimes. Yes. Isn't that what girlfriends are for...to hear you out when no one else will, to give you sound advice, to tell you the things that other people won't?!?!

4. What is your favorite activity to do with your friends? Well, I am a girl, duh! So, shopping and chatting...and sharing a good cup of coffee! :)

Now it is time to pass the award on to some well deserving ladies! :)

In no particular order.

Melissa @ http://www.thecrazydaisy31.blogspot.com - What you might not know about Melissa is that she is the sweetest person EVER...she's always hot on the button with a compliment, smile, or whatever it takes to raise your spirits! She's wickedly funny, beautiful inside and out, the best to talk to and I wish we lived closer so we could see each other on a daily basis!!! She also has her VERY OWN Etsy stores, Crazy Daisy Candles and The Crazy Daisy...go check her out! The candles are amazing! Love you!

Renee @ http://www.myglimpseoflife.blogspot.com- What you might not know about Renee is that she is seriously funny...not just your run of the mill humor, but quick-witted and she will have you crying from laughter in a heart beat! She has great fashion sense and she knows how to have a good time! That's why we've been friends for so many years! Love you!

Lisa @ http://www.pumpkinpinkcottage.blogspot.com- What you might not know about Lisa is that she is amazingly crafty, sweeter than cotton candy, and super fun to talk to! I know Lisa through Cafemom and hope one day we will meet in person!! She's also 35 and gorgeous...just thought I'd throw that in there! She also has these two fantastic Etsy stores, The Pumpkin Pink Cottage and The Creative Crown. Do yourself a favor and go check them out! Love you!

Feather @ http://featherlikeabird.blogspot.com/- What you might not know about Feather is that her and I became friends while attending college (The University of Oklahoma...Go Sooners). We were in the same block (classes) and spent many hours together learning how to teach. She taught me a thing or two along the way, as she is FANTASTIC with children! She has a gift! We hit it off right from the start and I'm so glad we're still friends this long after college! Love you!

Friday Confessions

Here are my Friday Confessions for the week...bare with me it could be lengthy due to unusually bad behavior...

  1. I honked at and stared down a guy who works in the same office building as me because he cut me off as I was trying to avoid driving through a pond in our drive here at the office. He couldn't even be patient enough to wait and let me turn around and go the other way, no him and his black Mercedes had to fly around me and splash a tidal wave...so I honked...a lot...and then I parked two spaces down from him (after finally maneuvering around the pond)...and stared him down...and gave him a dirty look...twice. I think he was scared.
  2. I ate Nutrisystem this week. (Yes, this is a confession in itself)
  3. I threw away my Nutrisystem lunch 3 times...one of those times I ate a cheeseburger in it's place.
  4. After suffering through Nutrisystem one WHOLE day w/out throwing any meals away, I rewarded myself with some Dove chocolate. Not sure that's how it works, but...
  5. I made Michael eat soup or a meal from a can twice this week, because I could not make dinner for him, then make myself eat Nutrisystem. It's healthy for him...he should thank me.
  6. I skipped church last Sunday and went to a craft fair...and boy was it fun...I'm confessing this one for my mom too...she went with me.
  7. I procrastinated for two days and did not order my Oriental Trading stuff for my two Fall/Halloween parties until Wednesday forcing myself to pay for overnight shipping. When will I learn?
  8. I didn't wash my hair on Wednesday because I watched DVR'd versions of Dancing With The Stars and Clean House...BEFORE getting dressed for work...no time left for washing and drying hair...thank you Lord for naturally curly hair!
  9. I told Isaiah the reason he can't watch Power Rangers is because he has to be 10 years old. I also told him that very same thing for why he couldn't buy this humongous truck at the store..."It says you have to be 10 to buy this"...what am I going to do when he starts reading? He's really close too...I'm in big trouble.
  10. Earlier this week at school one of the teachers told me she had to ask Isaiah to stop saying "What THE..." He never finishes the sentence she says, but she's worried he'll say something bad. I'm like, "his dad says that all the time...I'll be having a talk with him." (in my most stunned and self-righteous voice) Not true, I...ME...I say that all the time..."What THE..." I don't finish it usually and if I do I say heck...I do, really...these are Friday Confessions, now would be the time for me to confess.

OK, that's enough of that.

Happy Friday!

Thursday Thankfuls

A newly acquired blog-land friend, Miranda, over at Enjoying the Ride wrote me last week asking for help in getting everyone to post blogs through November listing things that they are thankful for. So, here I am...asking everyone who would like to to join in to add something that your thankful for each time you post a blog in November. If you post a daily blog, you'll at least have 30 things listed by the end of the month. You can read her post at Enjoying the Ride. Also, I'm adding my own little twist and on Thursdays, since Thanksgiving is on a Thursday...and well, to be real honest I usually run out of things to post on Thursdays...I'm going to have a Thursday Thankfuls post each Thursday in November, and I may just keep doing it. If you want, make a special post each Thursday and title it Thursday Thankfuls. I'll try to get a list going of everyone who is planning on posting. Let me know if you're interested.

It'll be therapeutic for you and inspirational to others.

We all need therapy.

Nutrisystem SUCKS!

Yeah, that's what I said...it sucks. I can't sugar coat it and no other word can describe how I'm feeling about it right now. I told my mom I would try it with her for a month, but Lord Jesus help me! That would be the ONLY way I could make it...a true miracle! It's been totally disgusting so far. Now I know how all these people on TV have lost so much weight...BECAUSE THEY STARVE!! I have thrown my lunch away two days in a row. I also threw my breakfast away yesterday morning...YUCK-O! I decided I would rather just drink coffee. I'm thinking of setting it on fire in my driveway. If you see smoke, you'll know what happened.

I'm going to eat a hamburger.

Why can't fat be healthy? Why can't I just have a super high metabolism? I really don't eat that unhealthy, I just really love food. No kidding. I eat my vegetables and fruit. I drink dairy...skim too. I try to only consume red meat once a week. I eat a variety of whole grains. I just apparently (really it is totally apparent) eat TOO much. If my granny has told me once, she's told me a thousand time "Sis, just push away from the table...eat smaller portions...you don't need any of that fancy stuff." I know Granny...i know. However, I don't. Maybe if she hadn't introduced me to peanut butter and syrup at such an early age I wouldn't have this issue! Truth is though, as much as I hate eating Nutrisystem is as much as I hate being over weight...and I'm pretty much willing to do whatever it takes to not be here anymore!

So, I guess I'm going to suck it up and have some Minestrone soup with "beef"...and they say this snack stuff is a "zesty herb mix"...nothing zesty about it and I'm not even quite sure what it is...this can't be good.

please pray.

Jesus, turn this soup into some yummy pasta. Amen.

Giveaway @ My Remodeled Nest!

There's a giveaway over at My Remodeled Nest! It's super cute and full of Halloween fun...
So, hurry on over and check it out...or don't that betters my chances...kidding, KIDDING!....go go what are you waiting for?

Tuesday To-Do's

I'm blogless! This hasn't happened to me in a while...nothing to blog about...no pics, no adventures, no mishaps, nothing new...I would have tons of pics to blog over if I had only remembered my CAMERA, but that was then and this is now...I'm living in the now. So, what to do, what to say?

I decided to do a to-do list for the remainder of the week, then I'll try to blog about each thing as they happen...

1. Finish planning Fall Festival for the church. Now, I'm not totally in charge of this event. My mom and I are mainly over the inflatables that we rented and the games we are setting up. However, we also have to buy the prizes for the games and candy to hand out at the inflatables. This is an outreach our church is doing. It's free for our community and we want the kiddos to leave with a bag full of candy! So, that's first on the list. I plan on tying up loose ends on this one TODAY...no procrastination!

2. Finish planning the Halloween Party for the American Legion. Now, this one I am totally IN CHARGE of...the whole thing. It's a party we put on for the children of the American Legion members (children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews...you get the idea). I am a member of the Auxiliary and I am currently holding the position of 2nd vice, so it is my job to plan all holiday parties. This is a perfect job for me. I love (with a capital L) LOVE party planning! So, I still need to finish planning the games, get the candy and prizes, be sure I have my Halloween cd...locate a cd player for the Musical Monster game, talk to the ladies tomorrow night about who will bring what, make sure we have plenty of goodies to eat, decorate the hall...yeah, this is a whole list in itself! All to be done by Sunday!

3. Buy 2 baby gifts for 2 baby showers this weekend! Who doesn't love a baby shower?! I love baby showers, but I'm pretty sure if I put one more thing in my agenda for the weekend I'll scream!

4. Keep house tidy through the week, no time for house cleaning on Saturday morning!

5. Make appointment for Isaiah to get a hair cut, so people won't start thinking he's a girl. However, if they did think he was a girl, he would definitely put them in their place and let them know that he is NOT a girl...I'm not sure if he even likes girls right now? I'm pretty sure he's already convinced that they have cooties.

6. Take Belle to the groomer because she STINKS!

7. Have my not-so-great pictures from the weekend put on a CD!

8. Attach my camera to my body someway somehow so I never forget my camera again...EVER!

That's enough rambling for now...I'll bore you no more.

Weekend Review!

Let me just tell you, I had the best weekend!

So, we went to Arkansas this weekend for a couple days of crafting (like the buying kind, not the making kind)...and it was sensational! Saturday morning I got up and cleaned house on turbo speed. We left town around 1:30 and got to Springdale, AR around 3:30, usually an hour and a half trip, but we made the necessary stop at Burger King on the way...hey, girls gotta eat. We checked into our room at the Sleep Inn & Suites, which by the way was great! My mom and I both commented on the fact that the room actually looked just as good as it did on-line when we booked it! We had a shorty with us, so we got a suite w/ a hot tub...that keeps kiddos entertained for hours! Our hotel also had an indoor pool, so we took Isaiah to swim for a while to exert some energy...much needed after a 2 hour car ride. The lady at the front desk informed us of another craft fair at the Embassy Suites in Rogers, just a 10 minute drive down 540. After our dip in the pool, we got dressed and hopped back in the car and headed for some crafting! This was totally unplanned and spontaneous. Our entire trip and been planned around going to War Eagle on Sunday morning. However, this little jaunt to Rogers reaped a car load of goodies! The craft show was indoors (of course) in their convention center...nice, carpeted, large, and spacious! We found so many great things and even had to tell ourselves no...*gasp*...a time or two, because we knew we were going to War Eagle the next day...and we had to be able to get all of our treasures back home to Oklahoma! We had contemplated tying things to the roof, but you just never know when a rain shower could occur...I mean we are talking Oklahoma here...weather is spontaneous! Around 9:00 we returned to our hotel room for some R&R...and football. We ate dinner and watched the end of the Texas/Mizzou game. Texas won, of course. OU won too...they beat Kansas 45-31! Go Sooners! Sunday morning, was breathtakingly gorgeous! We set out about 8:30 for War Eagle in a small farm town called Hindsville near Springdale. The drive was beautiful...this is in the Ozarks, so it's a lot of hills/mountains and valleys. The trees are changing and they are all shades of red, orange, yellow, and green. It was so picturesque...but you'll never believe what I did...I left my camera at my office!!! Friday I had downloaded some pics, so my camera would have plenty of space to hold my pics from the weekend...then what did I do...I LEFT it!! I was so mad at myself. My mom had hers, but it's just not MINE...so, I reluctantly used it. War Eagle Mills is where the craft fair is set. It is such a neat place with an old rickety covered bridge that the War Eagle river flows under. There is also a Mill, hence the name War Eagle Mills. The Mill is ran by the water that flows down the river. It is thickly populated with these old towering trees and as the wind blew it snowed leaves...seriously, they were just falling like snow flakes...everywhere...covering the ground. Beautiful! The crafts were just as good as the scenery. There is definitely something for everyone. Mom and I bought anything from handmade sweaters to personalized Christmas ornaments to decorative signs...you get the picture...we bought it all!

LOL...well, maybe not ALL, but a lot. Oh and the food was amazing...roasted corn, tater twisters, chocolate dipped cheese cake! YUM! Our vehicle was definitely loaded down as we made our way back home. We felt totally accomplished in that we did what we set out to do...relax, have fun, craft, shop 'til we drop, and come back feeling refreshed and rejuvenated!

Here's a shout-out to some of the crafty-crafters we bought things from:
  • For these great candle "gems", wrought-iron pieces, etc. - http://www.theironfluer.com/
  • For handmade and personalized Christmas ornaments - http://www.countrycraftsonline.com/
  • For these handy-dandy magnets that are memo holders...they can hold up to 5 pieces of paper and come personalized for free...I got one for Isaiah's artwork to put on the fridge, it says "Look what Isaiah did!" - http://www.nandymemoholder.com/
  • For a one-of-a-kind bracelet made from bottlecaps...I told you there was something for everyone...I bought an OU one, of course, but she had all sorts of college teams, pro teams, causes, kitche stuff, trendy stuff...you name it! She said if you e-mail her, she would send pics - rbridwell1@cox.net

I am totally frustrated right now because my not-so-great-but-all-I-had pictures from the weekend are trapped in my mom's not-so-great-but-all-I-had camera! ARGH! I'm even typing with angry fingers...like beating the keyboard...like that's going to help. Well, I guess those are all the pics you get until I take my mom's not-so-great camera to Wal-Mart and get the not-so-great pictures put on a cd! UGH! *sighing*rolling eyes*

HAPPY MONDAY (I meant to type in all caps...I'm yelling...)

Oh, and be on the look out for a giveaway...I've got a few goodies I'm willing to part with! :)

10.19.2008

Detective 'C'...

No name, just an initial...it's very secretive! If you need a detective, he's your man! Apparently, he's very good at finding mice! That's just what he told me...it could be a cover-up?

He's always up for a good chase and he's full of energy, so you don't have to worry about him falling down on the job.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that he has some highly advanced technology to aid in his cases...WOBBLE GOGGLES...that's a technical term...use it with caution.

When mice are on the fly, Detective 'C' is your guy!

Glitter = Magic!

I don't know about you, but I LOVE glitter! When I work with glitter and glue, it takes me right back to third grade making Valentine's Day cards...I LOVE it! Lisa, the Craft Goddess, over at Pumpkin Pink Cottage made some cute glittered eggs (they are featured in her latest giveaway, btw). So, my friend/co-worker and I decided we wanted to glitter some pumpkins...they are so super cute! We bought glitter and glue on Tuesday and went back again today to Michael's to buy more glitter and more glue! We even have my mom on the glitter trail! I'll have more pics to post soon, but here's one of my tiny pumpkins that I glittered. You should give it a try, it's super easy and TOO fun! The best glitter we have found is the Martha Stewart glitter powder. (You know I love Martha!) Her glitters come in all sorts of colors...jeweled tones, pastels, seasonals...you name it!

Here's one of the other banners I made...BOO...did I scare ya? :P

Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL weekend...full of rest and relaxation! Don't worry about me. I'll be in Arkansas this weekend shopping 'til I drop with my mom at War Eagle! Like 10 acres of arts and crafts! I can NOT wait! You know I'll have pics to share when I get back...maybe even a goody or two...maybe there's another giveaway in the near future? hmmm :)

Friday Confessions

Wow, this kinda snuck up on me...don't get me wrong, I'm totally glad it's Friday, but it might take me a minute to think of my confessions...

  1. I blogged way to much this week...that's a good place to start.
  2. We at McDonald's for dinner on Wednesday night.
  3. I take orders from a 4 year old.
  4. I stayed up until 12:00 Wednesday night watching the Top 100 80's Songs on VH1....then I couldn't get the song Hungry Like The Wolf out of my head...plus I had a dream about Duran Duran...then I found out on Thursday that they're going to have a concert here in Tulsa! Did I lose you? Thanks to #5 you can enjoy 5 of my favorite songs from the 80's...hope you enjoy! :P
  5. I'm a procrastinator. Have I ever said that before...well, I am...terribly.
  6. I let Isaiah go to school as Batman and Daniel Boone this week.
  7. I shamelessly boycotted the Presidential Debate because it replaced Private Practice. Did not watch it. (ok, I may have watched the majority of it on-line the next day, but I did NOT watch it live...how dare them not air Private Practice!)

Ok, that wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I'm bad, what can I say?! Seven seems like a good round number today, so I'll leave it at that. Don't leave me hanging...let me hear yours!

Drum roll please...

Drama...KING!

Isaiah is so dramatic...he's got a face for every emotion.

He said he was sleeping in this picture.

I think he told me this way his angry face.

He doesn't have to tell me what this one is...it's the i'm-not-gonna-do-it-even-if-you-make-me face...I've seen this one before.
This one is his sad :( face...I've seen this one too. Apparently, some where down the line he's been told that using this face will get you ANYTHING you want...psshhh, yeah right!
This is the one he makes when he's doing what he does best...being a BOY! (wrestling, playing football, using the couch for a trampoline, being spiderman...)
I think this is supposed to be a silly face :)
This is my favorite...he told me he blew me a kiss for my pocket. I keep those for when I need them the most.

I Received an Award!

I have seen other people's blogs with awards...Best Blog, The Smile Award, Most Creative...and thought that's cool they really deserve those! Today, however, I was awarded my very own...my very first blog award! The best part is that it was given to me by my very bestest Renee! You can find her at her blog, My Glimpse Of Life, which by the way is a fantasticly humorous and down to earth blog, where she chronicles her daily happenings. I highly recommend it be added to your favorites! Renee is my cousin. You know how you have cousins who you are close to just because you're related, then you have cousins who you would be friends with EVEN if they weren't related to you...well, Renee is the later for me. We would be friends regardless. She gets me. Sometimes I'm sure we are the only ones who find each other humorous (or down right hilarious)...although I'm equally sure that we make people laugh, even if it is at our own expense. We've been at this for a long time. The two of us were in Campfire together, went to the same Church and Youth Group, shared dorm rooms at cheerleading camp, went to church camp together...we definitely have history! So, thanks Renee for thinking of me and giving me this award (like you had a choice)!

If I got this right (which I'm sure I do because for the majority I'm usually right...teehee..I kid;)...these are the rules:

*Mention the blog that gave it to you and comment on their blog to let them know you have posted your award.
*Share 6 values that are important to you.
*Share 6 things you do not support.
*Grant the prize to 6 people.

So, mention the blog that gave it to me...check!

Now for my 6 values...

  1. God - I base my life on His plan for me. Without Him I would be nothing.

  2. Being Mom - I really value this role in life. Isaiah has brought so many joyful moments and I love him so much! I really don't know what I did before I became "Mom" (OK, I probably lazed around on the couch, watched whatever I wanted on TV, read a whole novel in 2 evenings, exercised daily...but you know what I mean...it's totally worth it:).

  3. Family - I feel so blessed to have been born into the family that I have. I LOVE my family...I mean REALLY love them. We're close. We do things together. We enjoy each other. I'm totally blessed.

  4. Being an American - I'm really appreciative to be an American. I think in times such as these people forget what men and women have done in the past to secure our freedom and liberties. I'm so thankful for those who put their lives on the line for our country, and for their families who make the ultimate sacrifice.

  5. Friendships - Old and new...they mean the world to me. I can't say enough about my friends. LOVE YOU ALL!

  6. A Good Cup of Coffee - For those of you who really know me, you know I REALLY mean this. :)

Now for 6 things I do not support...

  1. Abortion

  2. Any type of injustice

  3. Any type of violence or cruelty (toward people or animals)

  4. Ignorance

  5. People or organizations who do not have integrity and good values

  6. OSU or Texas (you would have to be a Sooner fan to understand this one.)

Now I have to tag 6 people and give them the award... (I wanted to give the award to a few of my other favorite daily reads like Melissa, Feather, Lori and Renee...but since they've already received the award, I thought I would share the wealth or award rather!)

  1. Lisa - she's probably the most creative and original person I know...she makes BEAUTIFUL paper crafts and these gorgeous crowns in her Etsy stores...She also has a fantastic GIVEAWAY going on right now. She has two totally unique blogs...go check her out!
  2. Mistee - from Our Family Blog #2...she's a new friend from blog-land. I think her writings are fun and down to earth. By the way, she has this fantastic GIVEAWAY going on right now...so hurry on over there and check her out!
  3. Katie - from Blessed By 3 Miracles. I don't really know her, but from what I've read in her blog her and her family are wonderful...they have adopted a child, who is precious by the way. Her other two boys are adorable. She has BEAUTIFUL pics on her blog. Go on over there and plan on staying a while...reading 'til your hearts content! :)
  4. Angie - She has a blog called The Happy Homebody. She truly is CREATIVE with a capital 'C'!! She has some wonderful ideas on crafts for your home and she has a knack for turning old out-of-dated trays into something spectacular! Go see for yourself!
  5. Buzzings of a Queen Bee - what a fun read this girl is...she's terribly clever. I think you'll like her too...what are you waiting for...go...read...enjoy! You can thank me later :)
  6. Lovin' This Krazy Beautiful Life - This is a great blog about family and life...she has a beautiful blended family and a fairy tale...she found her prince charming! :) Go check out her blog!

God's Beauty

God’s beauty is all around us, each and every day,

Expressed in things we experience, as we travel along life’s way,

The miracles of nature, no matter where we walk,

The ability to see it all and describe it as we talk

Who cannot help not be touched, by a baby's first real smile

The beauty of a vista, that goes for miles and miles

The blooming of a scented flower on a sunlit day;

The wonder of a stormy sea, when the air is filled with spray.

The quietness of a forest glen, with the sunlight through the trees

Towering giants with leafy arms, waving in the breeze,

The perfection of a summer day and a crop of ripening wheat,

Each day a wondrous miracle, when we the morning greet.

We have precious memories of beauty we have seen

Wonders of Creation in places where we’ve been,

And all of these can strengthen us and give us food for thought,

On the wonders of creation and the miracles God has wrought.

These are pictures from my garden and my yard. I know that winter is tapping at our backdoor, so I wanted to capture some of the bounty from summer before it all fades away.

Let's take time to enjoy God's goodness!
