A Thankful Heart -- Day 1

"No matter what happens, always be thankful..." (1 Th. 5:18)

Over the next month, as often as possible, I'm going to be posting things I'm thankful for.

I'm thankful for so many things.  I feel very blessed.

Sometimes my "thankfuls" might be "profound" and other times they may be silly or things that are only important to me.

Today, I'm thankful for the ability to go into the kitchen and just "whip something up", as my Granny would say.

I have her to thank for this ability.

For lunch today, I went into our kitchen here at the office and made myself some chicken and dumplings...my Granny's easy recipe.

After a conversation with a co-worker, it dawned on me that not everyone can just go into the kitchen and make something.  My ability to cook definitely comes from my Granny.  She is a wonderful cook.  I hope that one day I am even half as good as she is.

So, a big shout-out to my Granny (even though she doesn't read my blog...she doesn't even know what blogging is) for letting me hang out in her kitchen and watch her every move...and ask a million questions.

Thank you, Granny!  I LOVE you!

I'm linking up today with Shawn at Seriously and her

Hurry over and check out more "thankfuls"!

What are you thankful for?

I'm going to be thankful for something everyday too. Thanks for the idea. I hope that's okay. :)

And yeah...I'm not good at whipping something up...not even close. Working on it, but good for you! It doesn't come easily to me!

I love chicken and dumplings. Yummy!
Grandma's are the best cooks. I used to love my Grandma's 'pie'. I tried to make it myself last week but it wasn't as good as I remember hers being :(

I am the same way! I can go into the kitchen and throw things together and make a great meal. And I forget that not everyone can. I always say that cooking is so easy but for a lot of people it really isnt

I love my ability to whip something up too!

And I don't know who I got it from because the women of my family are not cooks at all!

I'm self taught.

yes you should be VERY thankful for that skill... this home ec teacher's child was not interested in the least on how to cook... and we'll just say there have been some HORRIBLE meals Jason has eaten and complimented. Thankfully he LOVES to cook... so I am thankful that we eat well because of him!

There is nothing like some Granny cooking time. You are blessed to have learned from her. Ooh, now I want some chicken & dumplings.

I am so jealous of that ability! I blame the fact that my grandmother made gourmet disasters such as melting mozarella cheese over a can of corn, and calling it a side dish.
Yuck.
Wanna trade Grannys?
