McLinky Monday - Back To School

The RHOK

The ladies at The RHOK want to know if we're happy or sad about school being back in session.
Well, to be honest with you, I'm kinda sad...no, I'm really sad.

We've had such a fun summer and I've been fortunate enough to be able to bring Isaiah to work with me anytime I want to.  I enjoy the extra time I get to spend with him during the summer.

There's 75% of me that would home school if I could.
For those of you who don't know, I went to school to be a teacher.
I majored in Elementary Education and I would love to be able to put those skills to good use.
However, I do have to work a full-time job.
Plus, I like the social interaction Isaiah gets at school.
He needs that.  He's a chatterbox.  That's where the other 25% kicks in.

Probably the biggest downer to school starting is the undeniable fact that he's getting older...
another year of school means another year older.
Isaiah is going into 1st grade this year!
FIRST GRADE!
It just doesn't seem possible.
He's playing football...tackle football!
Which is really cute, by the way.
But where did the years go?

I've been having a lot of those moments lately.
Where has the time gone?
How did it get to be 2010?
How did I get to be 32?
Since when am I the grown-up?

Anybody else have those moments?

You know what makes me happy?
School supplies.
That's my huge ray of sunshine in all this mully grub mess.
I LOVE SCHOOL SUPPLIES.
I love buying school supplies.
I love the newness.
They make me happy.

How about you, are you ready for school to start?
Happy or sad?

Oh my gosh Jenny Kate! Every single year I feel the same way. Like this is PURE CRAZINESS! Last year, fourth grade, was especially hard for me. I was so sad about him getting older for about a month. My sweet blogging friend Grandma J reminded me that it is good he is growing because it means life is flowing as it should. It is just so hard to watch them go. Bye bye babyhood!

Let's have some more?

I have an early childhood and elementary teaching degree and there's no way I'd homeschool. EVER. LOL! It's not the same, it's just not.

I'm so glad you got to spend a lot of time with him through the summer. I'm sure as a working mom you appreciate ever second you get with him.

I love school supplies too!! I always buy tons of stuff when they have things marked down to 9 to 25 cents! I just bought notebooks yesterday at Reasor's for 9 cents! Crazy!!

It's the beginning of the year that makes me miss teaching as well. I LOVED getting my room ready for a new year. I loved writing the names of my new students on their name cards, folders, etc. I loved all the possiblities that a new school year brought.

Great post, Jenny! I do agree with you that starting a new school year is just affirmation that they are growing up way too fast.

But, I'm READY and my girls are READY! Bring it on! =)

Awwww.....bless your heart.

When my youngest went to Kindergarten I felt absolutely devastated - I wanted so badly to run back in and scoop her up and kiss her head and take her home and make her macaroni and cheese and never let her out of my arms again.

I'm over that now. I like letting her teacher love on her for seven hours.

Thanks for playing along today!

I think I am ready for school to start, but I'm not so sure. Layla will start kinder, and Hayden will start preschool. I really can't wait for the time to myself, but part of me is nervous for my kiddies.

We had fun buying the school supplies, the school clothes however was like pulling teeth!

I am absolutely happy that school is about to start back. Not necessarily for the way you might think. I loved school. L.O.V.E.D. it. Loved learning new things and getting to know new people and seeing friends from the previous year. Just loved it. ESPECIALLY the NEW school supplies. It's a sickness, but I have it. Hello, my name is Michelle and I am a school supply addict.

As for time going quickly, my 2nd child just turned 13 years old? What? And I don't know where the time went either.
I'm just gonna enjoy these last few days before the new year and then roll around in the new school supplies before I pack the backpacks.

I HATE when school starts.
I HATE how the kids grow up so fast. :(

I hate the lack of freedom that comes with school. I/we love sleeping in and staying up late. Making last minutes plans and not having to worry about homework. I hate that they're growing up, I have a 10th and 5th grader this year, so my answer is definitely NOT ready!

Even at 43, I still mentally track the school year, rather than a calendar year. I love the promise of fresh starts, new clothes, new school supplies...

But Grant is starting 1st grade too. I'm surprisingly unprepared for that.

I am glad that you have enjoyed your summer with Isaiah! Since I don't have kids school starting doesn't matter much to me. I am not looking forward to the traffic from the 4 schools that I drive by in the mornings though. And as mean as this sounds I am looking forward to the neighborhood not being so noisy. Once school starts the kids pretty much stay inside...LOL!

I'm w/ya. I tried homeschooling. It wasn't for our family. I'm an Early Childhood Ed. major. Taught for 2 yrs. then went into corporate training.
Another thing we have in common : )
