Friday Daydreamin'

I'm linking up with Becca from The Texas Darlings AND R We There Yet Mom?, a super fun blog dedicated to traveling with kiddos!! She documents her and her family's adventures, along with those of her readers. Becca is now an IRL friend and she is so much fun to hang out with! Trust me, her kids are lucky to call her "Mom"! You need to go check out both of her blogs.

You may want to cut her for being so awesome, but don't 'cause I love her.

Today, I'm linking up with her Friday meme over at R We There Yet Mom? called Friday Daydreamin'. It's just a post where you daydream about where you wish you were...and post a favorite vacation picture! Sounds fun, right?!

The picture below is from a trip we took to Colorado a couple of years ago.  I'm definitely daydreamin' about being here...

My toes were in the icy waters of Jenny Lake up in the Colorado Rockies.  I think it was a balmy 70-something degrees the day we were there...ahhhhhh, 70 degree days.  I sorta remember those.

We've had so many 100+ days, it's ridiculous!!  The temps have kinda gone to my head.  I blame all sorts of things on the weather...bad hair, no make-up, crabby, bitchy, no cooking dinner...sleeping in the nude.  You really can get away with a lot.  Nobody seems to question you much.

Hopefully, we have some cooler days ahead, but for now, I'm just gonna kick my feet up on my desk and daydream about those cool waters of Jenny Lake...

That is until my boss comes in and busts me.  I'll tell her the heat was getting to me and I felt faint.

Hope you guys have a great Friday!!

Happy List - 02.19

Photobucket

I'm linking up once again with Mamarazzi and her Happy List.

So, what's making me happy these days??

Swaps.  I love 'em.  I'm slightly addicted.  They make me happy!  Here's my latest package that went out on Thursday to Stephanie, my new bloggy friend.

"Hi, Stephanie!  Hope you like your swap package!!"

This Oklahoma weather has been giving me whiplash...cold, hot, cold, hot, ridiculously windy...which ultimately leads to chapped lips, which I hate.  So, this makes me happy

My new favorite "something sweet".  They are SO good.
Happy, happy, happy.

Taking and editing pictures.  Yep, I love it.  Makes me happy.

I found this picture while going through the Valentine's Party Pics from Isaiah's class...I like it.  I made those cupcakes...they were yummy.  Cupcakes make me happy.

What's making you happy today?  Go check out all the other Happy List posts over at Mamarazzi's!

Hope everyone is having a spectacular weekend!!

love and rockets,
jennykate♥

P.S. Comment on this post if you want a chance to win two of my favorite things I listed above!  It's a small-itty-bitty giveaway...I'll leave it open until Monday @ midnight and announce the winner in Tuesday's post.

A Phineas and Ferb Birthday Party

Saturday morning I woke up and said...

Ferb, I know what we're doing today!

I planned a Phineas and Ferb party for Isaiah's birthday.  He's nuts about that show and I had the most fun planning around the theme.  It was a win-win!

I couldn't find any invitations and I had thought about ordering some off of Etsy (there are several people who sell custom Phineas and Ferb invitations on Etsy and Ebay).  I just couldn't find any that were exactly what I was wanting and I was on a short time frame.  As usual, I had waited until the week I needed invites sent out to find invites.  So, I went to Office Depot and found some fun paper, snagged a cute/wintery Phineas and Ferb pic from the Internet...wrote up a little invite and inserted the pic and voila...

Invites on the cheap.

I was able to find TONS of decorating stuff on Party City's website (click HERE).  They had a great selection and great prices.

I was up in the air about the cake until the last minute.  I just couldn't decide what to do with it.  There were so many possibilities.  I could have went with something from the theme song.  For instance, I had thought about having an Eiffel Tower cake made and putting Phineas and Ferb scaling up the side...or I had thought about having a Yeti cake made and putting Phineas and Ferb around the sides giving him a shower.  The wheels in my head were turning, but I really didn't have the time to wait much longer, so I just had a simple Phinea and Ferb-ish cake made at my favorite local bakery (Merritt's for all you local peeps...they never disappoint).

It wasn't elaborate or anything, but I thought it was cute and went well with the rest of the decor.

Isaiah made it known that he wanted to build "contraptions" like Phineas and Ferb, so I set up a table with all sorts of craft/building materials.  The kids had a blast using their imaginations and putting together their very own contraptions.

We also had a couple of games.

Pin The Tail On Perry was fun! One of the perks of my job is working with a bunch of drafters.  We have a huge plotter at our office and one of the guys printed Perry out for me, but you might be able to have it printed some where.  I found a pattern for a platypus tail on line and saved it, colored it orange, printed them, and cut them out.

Find the Lawn Gnomes was a hit!

I told them that the EVIL Dr. Doofenshmirtz had STOLEN all of our lawn gnomes and we need them back!  I sent them on a hunt for all the lawn gnomes they could find.  Prior to the party starting, I had went around and hid 40 lawn gnomes all over...under tables, on walls, under chairs...anywhere inconspicuous.  They had fun finding them and they were rewarded with mini chocolate bars.

For the lawn gnomes, I just found a picture of one that I liked online, saved it to my pictures, a printed them out on card stock.

I also set up a Dr. Doofenshmirtz Laboratory and performed a couple of experiments.

We inflated a balloon with vinegar and baking soda and made green slime!  It was SO cool.

I'm not sure who had more fun them or me!  LOL.

We served cheese pizza and carrots w/ ranch dressing, at the request of the birthday boy.  I was going to serve grilled cheese because P and H's sister, Candace, loves grilled cheese.  I was going to cut them all into fourths and put them on a skewer.  Grilled Cheese on a stick!  Sounds cute, right?!  Isaiah INSISTED on cheese pizza.  Oh well.

We also had a yummy Sundae Bar and a Candy Bar.  The kids loved making their own sundaes.

Their favor bags consisted of Phineas and Ferb stickers and tattoos, pencils, sticky hands, a compass, Phineas and Ferb fruit snacks (found at Wal-Mart and Target), and a Phineas and Ferb Mix CD.  For the CD, I just downloaded about 10 of Isaiah's favorite Phineas and Ferb songs onto iTunes, made a playlist, and burned it to CDs.  I found some really cheap CDs at Office Depot (10 for $1).

Every kid also got some cool shades just like Phineas and Ferb wear (found them at amazon.com).
(the two adorable children above are courtesy of my one of my best friends, blogger at my3ellas.
I think it was a success.

I know the birthday boy had fun...he said, and I quote, "it was the BEST day ever"

That was what I was going for.

I'm sorry if you tried to click on the link to my last giveaway from yesterday's blog post.  I forgot to link it up.  So, you can click HERE to make sure you entered.  Promise.  It'll really take you somewhere.  Not over the rainbow, but it will take you to my giveaway, which is just a $10 Starbucks card and a $10 iTunes card and another little surprise...no bluebirds flying and it wasn't sang about once in a lullaby.

I don't know what the heck I'm talking about.  Just go enter my giveaway.  I'll announce the winner in Thursday's blog post.  Hope you're all having a great week so far.

December To-Do List

Wow wow wow.  December 1st!  Already.

I don't know about you, but December is shaping up to be a busy month!  It always is, but this year I feel like I have added a dozen more things to my normal list of tree trimming, gift buying, and partying.  Anytime I start to feel overwhelmed, it helps me to sit down and write out a list.  If it's on paper (or the blog) and I can see it and check it off, I feel better about it.  So, here's my list for the month of December...
  • Buy 12 gifts for Sami's 12 Days of Christmas Swap.  It's been a lot of fun getting to know my new found bloggy friend Lisa...she's one cool chick! ;) I have 4 down, 8 to go...I'm stressing a little over the $50 limit.  How the heck do you buy TWELVE gifts for $50 or less?!?!  They have to be mailed to her by the 12th!
  • Going to buy Eclipse at midnight this Friday!
  • Going to watch my hometown play in the 4A High School Football Championship game on Saturday!  Also, my beloved Sooners will be playing in the Big 12 Championship on the same day...at the same time!  Go Bulldogs and BOOMER SOONER!
  • Meeting Impulsive and our friend Mona at Hideaway next Friday night for GNO!
  • The RHOK is getting together on the 12th or 19th to take pictures for the Cube Project. Have you heard of that? It's really cool. You should check it out!
  • Also getting together with The RHOK for a Christmas party. Date is still undecided.
  • Christmas Play w/ my kiddos at church. We have 2 more Sundays and 2 more Wednesdays to practice. Our Christmas Play is on December 19th.
  • A birthday party for Jesus at church after the Christmas Play.
  • I still have Michael, Isaiah, my Granny, and a few small friend gifts to buy.
  • Angel tree gifts to buy.
  • My kiddos at church and I are working on a Christmas package for a church in Paraguay.
  • I need to wrap most of my gifts. I only have a few wrapped and under the tree right now.
  • The Christmas Party for Isaiah's class is on December 17th. We're going to set up centers and have the kids rotate. So, I'm planning on 3 craft stations, 1 coloring station, and a hot chocolate and cookie decorating station. I've got to finish planning all of that. I haven't even started on the crafts yet!
  • Christmas Party at the American Legion. We usually have about 50 kids and I have to think of a craft for our craft table and make sure my cousins will come down and sing some carols with the kids...oh, and I have to secure a Santa Clause!
  • I'm in the middle of planning my cousin Lindsay's baby shower for the day after Christmas...it's going to be a Winter Wonderland theme. I can't wait to show you guys what I have planned!
  • I'm also planning Isaiah's birthday party.  It's January 5th and I have to get it all together before Christmas.
  • On top of all of that, I have baking and a few gifts I'm wanting to make...some photo books to put together...Christmas cards to mail out...and I'm sure there is something that I'm leaving off the list.
Needless to say, I'm going to be busy.  How about you?  What sort of things are you busy with during this holiday season?

Here are a few of the pictures I have taken recently, all courtesy of my iPhone because someone left their camera at their Granny's and keeps forgetting it everytime she's down there...we won't name any names.

House Update

I've been promising a house update...I even pinkie promised yesterday, and you can NOT break a pinkie promise.

I think the last house update I posted was in August!

Makes you say "what the heck, JK?"

So, here's a house update!
The picture above is me standing in the kitchen looking back into the living room/dining room area.  The short "walls" are where my cabinets are going to go.

We have all of the electric in and the heat and air has been installed.
The inspector came today and signed off on everything!  WOOT!
The plumbing is in and we already have our bathtub and faucets in the bathroom.
This is looking into Isaiah's room.  He's so excited about it.  Excuse the mess.  We've been using it to store some thing that had to come out of the attic in the old part of the house.

Let me tell you, this house addition stuff is hard work and it's messy.  There are days when I feel like pulling my hair out because of the dust and dirt...and the fact that NOTHING has a place right now.  However, I try to focus on the good stuff.  I know it will be all worth it in the end and the progress is really picking up...that excites me!

For instance, today we got a sidewalk and front porch poured.

I like it!  It's a mess, but it makes me happy.

I promise to update more often.  Say a prayer and cross some fingers...and toes...that we can at least be partially in by Christmas.  That's my Christmas wish!

Hope you all are having a terrific Tuesday!♥

A Whole Lotta Halloween

A week...a WHOLE flippin' week?!  Man, I'm failing on the blogging job.

In my defense, it has been a crazy busy past 7 days!

I planned/co-planned 3 Halloween parties, accompanied Isaiah's class on their field trip to the Aquarium, and Isaiah played his last football game of the season...and I have pictures to prove it!

Harvest Festival @ Legacy Family Church - Party #1

Halloween Bash @ The Farm
(aka my Mom & Dad's house) -
Party #2

Halloween Party @ The American Legion - Party #3
I don't know if I've ever told you guys before, but I'm the President of the American Legion Auxiliary that we belong to.  Around the Holidays, we throw parties for the children of the Veterans that belong to our Post and for the local community.  So, every year I plan the party w/ games and crafts and bunches of goodies.  It's a lot of fun!

1st Grade Field Trip to the Aquarium

The jellyfish and anemones are always my favorites!

Saturday was Isaiah's last football game.  They lost, but it was a great game and they played their little hearts out.

Here's a few of my favorite pics from the game.

How was your weekend?  Attend any parties?  Did you raid your kiddos Halloween bag check your kiddos candy for razor blades and needles?

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Unloading the Camera

Life has been busy.

My camera is full.

We have another busy weekend coming up.

So, I thought I should dump my pics and post some for you guys to see.

Remember a couple of weeks ago was Michaelpalooza?

Somebody around here is 34...over a 1/3 of the way to 100.
I told you guys that we're up to our ears in football.  I can NOT resist taking pictures of these little guys.  Check this one out...he has his eyes closed.  LOL.  Maybe that's some new football technique we don't know about?
They finally got Their first win!! The funny thing about this picture is that there were boys running both ways through the cheerleader's tunnel and colliding in the middle...and they thought it was hilarious, so they just kept doing it.  Gotta love 6 year olds.

I met up with a couple of friends last week for margaritas, Mexican food, and memories.  Good times.
I've known these girls forever.  What I love most about our GNOs is that we can not see each other for weeks, months, or even years and when we finally get together again it's like no time has passed.

As you can see, my new blog design is up thanks to the Design Girl!!

What do you think?!

Hope everyone is having a super fab week so far!  Stop back by tomorrow for a giveaway!!
