I Love You Like A Back-Alley Hooker Loves Crack

I love you like a Kardashian loves publicity.

I love you like a pimp loves hos.

I love you like LiLo loves getting kicked out of rehab.

I love you like Snoop Dogg loves gin...and juice.

I love you like Ryan Gosling loves saying "hey, girl."

Yep, I love you guys that much.

Just wanted to say "thank you" for all of your sweet compliments and encouragement to my Weight Loss post last week!  You guys are awesome!!  It definitely gave me some much needed motivation.  I haven't had a weight loss since the day before I posted that and felt discouraged all last week, but every time I did, I just looked back at some of your comments and kept going.  So, THANK YOU!!!

So, it's V-Day!  Do you have any sugary romantic adventures planned?  I think it's a hyped-up-over-commercialized holiday.  BUT I'm not opposed to a little romance.  I just think it's important to tell those that you love that you love them every day.  We shouldn't reserve it for one day out of the year.

Side note: Just for the record (Michael, this is where you should really pay attention), if there is not at least a card waiting for me when I get home, do not and I mean, do NOT, ask me "how you doin'" and look at me like you're going to rock my world...'cause it's not happening.

WHAT?!  I'm still a girl.  I have needs and feelings.

Be sure to tell someone you love them today!

Happy Valentine's Day!  Hope you all have a love-filled day!

McLinky Monday - Valentine's Day

The RHOK

Today at The RHOK, Mrs. Bundy wants to know how we celebrate Valentine's Day...

Well, Mrs. Bundy, I wish I had something really romantic and mushy and gushy to tell you, but I don't.

We are typically so UNexciting on Valentine's Day.  Usually a movie and dinner is the extent of our celebrations (outside of the bedroom) <------ Did I just say that?  On the blog?

I do remember our first Valentine's Day together.  It was probably our most cheesy romantic.  It was mid-90's.  I was still rockin' the somewhat poofy bangs.  I borrowed a knee length red dress from my college suite mate...and some red high-heels to match.  She was a sorority girl and never lacked for party attire.  Michael wore a suit jacket and slacks.  I remember that he came up to my dorm to pick me up, flowers in hand...AND in his 25th Anniversary Camaro.
Hot guy, cool car.
Who doesn't swoon over that?
I think we went to a banquet or something...we probably made out.

How much more awkward could I be?  Maybe I was nervous...yeah, we'll go with that.  Also, I'm making a mental note to never, under any circumstances, wear a dress like that again...it does nothing for a chubby girl.

This year, Michael is sick.  My Granny has been in the hospital.  Our house is in the middle of being finished.  Valentine's Day will not be a grand production.

OH yeah, BUT we do have a Valentine's Day tree...
That makes up for the lack of celebration this year, right?
How do you celebrate Valentine's Day?

If you want, stop by The RHOK and link up with us today!

Happy Valentine's Day!

love and rockets,

A New Valentine's Day Tradition

Due to my lack of motivation and just down right laziness, my Christmas tree is still in the corner of my living room.

You wanna know what?  I'm not even trying to hide it...it's actually still in view from my living room window.  I could turn the lights on and we could sit around and sing "Santa Clause is Coming To Town".  Just 10 more months.

In an effort to avoid any more awkwardness of the Christmas tree still being up in February, I did what any person would do...

I undressed it and changed it's outfit.

Introducing the Altman Family 2011 Valentine's Day Tree...

Thank you to all of my wonderful commenters for your support and encouragement.  This would not be possible without you.

My husband might be sending you hate mail.

Nothing Specific

I just wanted to blog today...no specific topic...no specific reason...nothing specific to say or tell.
What can I say? Sometimes I just really miss you guys. {awe}
Surprise, surprise...I'm not even going to mention Twilight...oops, okay...I'm not going to for the rest of this post.
It's Tuesday. The sun is shining {a little} here in Tulsa. I'm feeling a lift in my spirits just from the brief sunshine. I can feel my body soaking up the vitamin D. I had some Starbucks too, in a really cute cup with a {heart} on the side♥ I'm guessing it's left over from Valentine's Day, but I think it should be the standard Starbucks cup...well, maybe they could switch out between the red cup from Christmas and this one.
Speaking of Valentine's Day, I had a good one. Me and my sweetheart went to dinner at Red Lobster, that's like our date night stand-by...can't go wrong with Cheddar Bay Biscuits, shrimp, and crab legs. Then we went and watched Valentine's Day, which I highly recommend. I know there are some mixed reviews, but I thought it was super funny and really cute. It starts out as one of those predictable chick flicks {which I love}, but it's not as predictable as you think. It has a few surprises. Plus, there is some serious eye candy. Can't go wrong there.
How was your Valentine's Day? How's your week going? I REALLY want to know.

A Valentine's Giveaway and My Fav Poem

Although I think that Valentine's Day is a made up holiday, here to make the card and candy makers an extra buck, I do like the idea of a day dedicated to love. So, in honor of this love-filled day. I want to share my favorite love poem of all time, written by none other than Mr. Shakespeare himself...

Shall I compare thee to a summers day?

by William Shakespeare

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day ?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer's lease hath all too short a date:

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimmed,

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance, or nature’s changing course untrimmed;

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,

Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st;

So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

This poem just makes me happy when I read it. I think it would steal any girl's heart. It is an expression of complete love.

I also am having a little Valentine's Day Giveaway.

Funny story: Isaiah has an obsession with infomercials. He watches them and memorizes them. If it was up to him, our house would be full of Magic Bullets and Tobi Steam Cleaners. He thinks everyone should own Aqua Globes...that was what we bought moms and grandmas for Mother's Day last year. I'm always aware of any new fitness contraption or phenomenon...Isaiah is sure to let me know..."it'll make you skinny" he says...thanks for thinking of me Bub. During Christmas, the Snuggie infomercials were a hot new thing, so what did he want to buy everyone for Christmas? Yep, Snuggies! However, the lovely people at Snuggie did not send out our 8...yes, EIGHT...Snuggies until a few weeks ago. So, here we are 2 months after Christmas and we have 8 Snuggies! I have given some of them away and we've kept a couple to use ourselves, but we do have one Snuggie left...and it needs an owner...a free book light is included with every purchase...er, I mean giveaway.

If you would like to win a Snuggie and a book light, leave me a comment. I'll draw a winner on Wednesday (February 18).

To all my blog land friends...Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day Swap

Andrea @ My Chihuahua Bites (which is a truly fantastic blog) hosted a Valentine's Day Swap. This has been my first swap EVER! Let me tell you, it has been the most fun! I have had the best time getting to know my Swap Partner, Julie! She is such a sweet lady and she has a terrific blog (http://www.shabbywears.blogspot.com/ ). Blog land friends are so great!

So, first I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Andrea for hosting such a fabulous swap! Second, I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Julie for my amazing box of goodies! She was so creative and thoughtful in what she sent me...I can't thank her enough!

Take a look at what I got...

I love all things "Paris". So, she decorated the outside of this suitcase w/ vintage pictures of the Eiffel Tower and French sayings. It was tres cute!

Inside was a mixture of delightful things...heart wreaths, yummy "pink" hot cocoa, cute Valentine's Day themed baking supplies (which is so funny b/c I bought her some V-day inspired baking supplies too before I got the package from her...great minds think alike☺), a candle, some scrapping supplies, a cookbook, and a beautiful vintage bowl!
Geez...that's a long list...I'm a lucky girl!

Here is what I came up with for my gift to Julie...
I took an old hat box...

recovered it with some cutsie valentine's paper and clip art...
filled it with some goodies and gifts...
tossed in some rose petals for charm...
and tied it with a bow!
I really hope you like your Valentine's Day goodies, Julie! I had so much fun putting your gift together!

When is the next swap? Sign me up!
