It's Hotter Than Hell

Yesterday, our actual temperature in Tulsa was 116 degrees.  You read that right...ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN DEGREES.  People were frying eggs on sidewalks and baking cookies in their cars, which by the way were completely baked in 3 hours.  Seriously.  (sofa king hot)

I posted my Okie Housewife Triple Digit Temp Survival Tips over at The RHOK today.  This will be my last post at The RHOK, so stop by and visit me!  Tell me how you're surviving this heat wave...got any tips/tricks of your own?

Oh, and I googled "hotter than hell" images and this came up in my search...

I'm telling you that Google is so smart.

Hope you're all beating the heat and staying cool!

Summer Lovin'

You know the words to the song..."Summer lovin' had me a blast"...
Well, this post isn't about Danny or Sandy,
but it is about some the things I am TOTALLY loving about summer.
One of the great things about living in Oklahoma is that we have four distinct seasons.
Just as we've had it "up to here" with winter
along comes spring.
Then, just as we think we can't sneeze one more sneeze,
along comes summer and the HOT blazing heat.
Soon, summer will be replaced with the beauty of fall, but for now I'm just lovin' summer, the 120 heat index and all.

Some of my fav moments right now are the lazy summer days on the porch reading and watching Isaiah run around drawing colorful pictures on the sidewalk with chalk, summer nights out with friends, and dreaming of possibilities and future plans as I watch my house addition being built.

As I've been enjoying summer, the days have been passing by so quickly and I've missed a couple of important blogging moments.
The wonderful Becca of The Texas Darlings did an awesome BFFE
(aka Bloggy Flip Flop Exchange)

I failed to post or link up.
*slap on the wrist*
Bad blogger.

However, I'm attempting to somewhat redeem myself today.
So, here are my simply ADORABLE flip-flops that Molly from Fleur-de-Bee MADE for me!

Aren't they the cutest?!  Through our little chats on Facebook, she found out that I love all things zebra and she added some zebra print ribbon.  I love them!  She also sent me a little goodie bag with salt water taffy, a much needed pedicure set, and some fabulous-summery nail polish!  Thank you so much, Molly!!!
Not only did Becca organize a swap for the grown-ups, and I use that term loosely, but she organized a swap for the kiddos too!

Isaiah swapped with Alex, whose mommy is Connie from The Young and the Relentless.  I wish I had a pic of his cute camo flip flops and all the goodies he got, but he tore into that package and away he went!  He was at work with me the day it came in the mail and I didn't even get a chance to take a pic of all his super cool goods! A big THANK YOU to Alex and his mommy!!
Isaiah loved it all!!

A humongous THANK YOU to Becca
for hosting and organizing the swap!  You always do such a good job, Becca!

So, what are you LOVIN' about summer right now?

Friend Makin' Monday is BAAAACCKKK!

I was just thinking this morning that I WISH there was a Friend Making Monday post to do...and, well, wishes really do come true! The wonderful fabulous Amber at {aefilkins} is hosting FMMs while Kasey is taking a bloggy break (we all need those from time to time).

Today's Theme:

Top 10 Things I Loved About This Summer

1. Michael doing most of the cooking on the grill. Thanks, babe. :)

2. Cookouts at the farm. (Is it bad that my first 2 favs revolve around food and eating?)

3. Not having to get Isaiah up and around for school. He's not a morning person, but he has been doing a fabulous job so far since he started kindergarten! ILY

4. Family Reunions...the Barney's representin'. We're so hard-core.

5. Visits from friends

and getting this tattoo...

6. The slip-n-slide!

Michael slippin' or trippin' on the slip-n-slide!

Isaiah slippin' like a pro.

and one of my fav shots from this summer...

The Crack Shot

(he'll hate me for this one day)

7. WICKED! By far the BEST musical EVER!!! If it comes to your local PAC, GO SEE IT!!!

8. Meeting up with my friends for Starbucks at my favorite locale. :)

9. Isaiah taking his first trip to Grammy and Papaws. I know it sounds crazy that this would be on my "favs" list, but it was a real growing moment for me. He had so much for, so how could I not LOVE that!

10. Our Colorado vacation, where we had the best time and met up with some great friends and really really enjoyed ourselves.

What a GREAT summer!

What is your TOP 10 of the summer?

Go join in on FMMs over at Amber's blog!

Hope everyone has a mah-velous Monday!

Bad Blogger :(

Man, I'm a bad blogger. I just can't seem to get it together in the bloggin arena. When things are chaotic in REAL life, blogging just doesn't come as easy to me. Life has been so busy...family reunion planning, family visiting, get-togethers, vacation planning. I have a million things I want to blog about, pictures to post, and stories to tell. I even have a "bloggin' to-do list". Lists make sense to me. They help me organize my thoughts, but lately lists aren't even making a difference. I've never been diagnosed with ADD, but I'm pretty sure I have it. I'm making a promise to try to get around and catch up with everyone's blog and catch up on some blogging of my own...ASAP! I swear on all cute Coach purses...and Edward.

How's your summer?

Guess what? I'm going to see Wicked the musical TONIGHT!!! I'm sooooo super excited and I can NOT wait! EEEeeeeeee!

Anyone else seen Wicked?

Tomorrow is Friday! Yippee! I think I'll try to muster up a Friday Confessions. We'll see how it goes.

Until then...

Hugs and lotsa LOVE! :)

Signs of Summer

The signs of summer are all around. Yesterday as I drove down the park road, the road that leads to my house, I was taking in the view...The city park was buzzing, kids were swimming, moms were playing with their children, people were practicing baseball, there were walkers on the track. It feels good doesn't it? When seasons change, it makes us feel like we can too. For some, summer means vacations, family picnics, and reunions. For others, it means baseball games, swimming holes, and lazy days. I know for me it makes me feel like eating healthier and exercising more...which is never a bad thing! The grass is green, the trees are in blossom, and flowers are sprouting...color abounds. Yes, summer is a happy season.

Look for summer all around you. Breathe in the warm air. Enjoy the longer days. Love every minute of it!
