Small Town Christmas Parade

Have you ever been to a small town Christmas parade?  I know some of you live in small towns and I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.  I also know some of you in real life, so I know that you know what I'm talking about.  But this post is for those of you who have never experienced a small town Christmas parade.  I mean, I think everyone at least once should experience it.  So, get ready for you virtual Small Town Christmas Parade.  You can thank me later.

One thing you can always count on are a plethora of police cars and fire trucks

They are there in full force...horns, lights, sirens, and all.

The second thing you can always count on is that there will be at least 3 high school/junior high marching bands.  They provide the background music to the parade.

Watch this video for a little glimpse.

If you can't hear what Isaiah is saying, I'll help you out.  He's telling me "this is how I feel the beat", and he wants me to look down at his feet.  He's doing some sort of foot tapping/dancing/clogging thing.  Then, toward the end, he tells me "this is what I do when I stop feeling the beat", and again he wants me to look down at his feet.  He's standing completely still.  Last thing he asks me is if I like Double Bubble, because if I didn't he was going to give it to the people standing next to us.

There is TONS of candy thrown out!  You'll also walk away with a coupon or two...and maybe some beads...it's like Mardi Gras.

Here are a few sights that you might not see at your hometown Christmas parade.

Yep, that's an over sized shopping cart, some ladies riding horses, and Frosty on a motorcycle.

A few of my favorite floats...

It wouldn't be a Christmas parade without a float w/ a nativity scene.

This is Isaiah's serious face.

And of course, a Christmas Parade would NOT be a Christmas Parade without these guys...

Wha?  Of course the political parties have to represent.

So, there you have it, a Small Town Christmas Parade.  Hope you enjoyed it!

Have you been to a Christmas Parade yet?  Will you?  What's your favorite thing to see?

P.S.  Go green.  Be a tree hugger.
Sorry for the picture overload, I just didn't want you to miss anything! =)

I love it... that's how our parades are. My kids were with their dad last weekend and it was like 10 degrees outside, so we didnt make it. Our parade lights our Christmas Village downtown, so one of theses days soon we will go down and walk through the park.

Oh, yes! And, it's totally our thing. In fact, the Kennesaw parade is this Saturday and Santa will be at the end with real reindeer. That's always cool!

We have a few around here. I kind of want to go to one tomorrow night, but I also kind of want to stay at home sitting on my butt.

Okay, so your home town Christmas parade is way better than ours! We don't even do a holiday one, but the one that we do have? Well, our town is so small we have a damn UPS truck in it.

Ours is this weekend but I don't know if I feel like going because it is so flippin' cold!

We are going to a Christmas Parade in Downtown Denver tonight! We are so excited because it was 60 degrees today so it should be a great night to be outside. And I promised the kids we'd get Starbucks!

Haha, I'm all about picture overload! Love this... what a fun time with the family. It is already soooo cold here, I would have a hard time standing outside for a parade... so I'm grateful to have a look at yours. :)

This is all kinds of awesome.

Coupons? Never heard of that being thrown and I lived in Louisiana for 7 years. That's just good partying.

Oversized shopping cart?

Political floats?

I must be there next year.

Just noticed something. Is your son the kid in your button? LOVE it.

I love the small town parades best.
Ours is this coming Saturday morning. Why must we do it of a morning? I think I'd like a nighttime one.

Love your pictures and video!

Isaiah's serious face is somewhat balanced out by the hat he is wearing...hard to look at him seriously in that one! Too cute!

Looks like fun! I haven't been to a local parade in a really long time. I think the marching band is my favorite thing about a parade.
