Once upon a time, there was a girl who hated vampires.

Once upon a time, there was a girl who hated vampires.

Actually, she hated anything "scary".  She didn't watch scary movies.  She didn't go to spooky houses.  And she didn't read scary books.

Actually, she didn't read books at all.  This was a very dark time for literature in this girl's life.

During college, she was forced, often tortured, with reading.  She spent four and a half years reading text books and syllabi. Occasionally, she would find time to read a magazine or a newspaper article...and blogs, of course, but books were just a thing of her past.

Until one day, a couple of her friends started talking about a book.  It was this tragically romantic book about a girl who moves to a place where trees are covered in moss and it rains 90% of the time.  The girl meets a god-like boy at her new high school.  He seems unattainable and completely uninterested.  Until one fateful day, when he saves her from a van skidding across the ice...WITH HIS BARE HANDS.  What the what?  Come to find out, it's a book about a girl who falls in love with a vampire...and vice versa.

For obvious reasons, the girl adamantly refused the book.  There is no way that she would ever, and I mean, EVER read a book about vampires.  *Refer to the title of the post*

Two weeks later, the girl had devoured the books...all of them.  No, she didn't eat them.  *rolls eyes*  She prefers brownies.  By devour, I mean she read the books non-stop.  She didn't eat, sleep, do laundry, or talk to her friends, until the very last page was read.  Then, she read them again.

And so began her love affair for all things sparkly.  And Edward Cullen.

Now, let's skip ahead about a year.  These vampire books became a movie, and a new love began to blossom.  She found herself head-over-heels, not only for the sparkly vampire, but also the god-like creature that portrays him, Robert Pattinson.

She began filling her office with all things Twilight and Rob.  She started a blog.  She went to Twilight Conventions.  She threw Twilight parties.  She got a Twilight tattoo.  She traveled to Forks.  I guess you could say, she became a Twihard, in every sense of the word.

So, as her final hurrah...one last Twilight party (that lasted 7 days)...she made the pilgrimage to the Black Carpet.  That's right, and she slept in a tent in the middle of LA for three nights

(well, for a couple of nights...sorta...she had a room at The Luxe across the street...WHAT? She couldn't risk being stinky when she met Robert Freakin' Pattinson!), she waited in line after line, she obtained ulcers from all of the worrying she did over whether or not she would even get into Tent City/Fan Camp (that's what they call the place they herd all of the fans while you wait to see if you get a spot on the Black Carpet), met people she would have never met any other way, rubbed elbows with Twilight Stars,

made friends who will last a lifetime,

and ROBERT FREAKIN' PATTINSON.

Stop back by later this week for a picture overload and to hear all about when she met Stephenie Meyer and Robert Pattinson.

Huntington Beach Mini Movie by the Fabulous Movie-Maker, Becca Darling

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  Two of my last three posts have been about Huntington Beach and how awesome it was.  Deal with it...'cause Honey Badger don't care.  "Toniiiiiiiiight...we ARE young!!!"

If you want to smile today, you should watch this.  It has that affect on people.

A ginormous THANK YOU to Becca @ The Texas Darlings for the video.  (She does this as a business, if you're interested.  They make great gifts!!)

Hope you're all having a super great week! XOXO

Friday Confessional

Photobucket

I'm linking up with Mamarazzi today for Friday Confessional. It's been a while, so I figured I should repent...I mean, confess a few things, so I can go be bad some more this weekend...I mean, so I can feel better about myself going into the weekend.

Mama told me linking up regularly to Friday Confessionals is a free pass into heaven.

You wanna know the real-honest-to-goodness-no-lying reason I'm blogging today?

Connie made me do it.

I confess, if you ever want to get me to do anything, just threaten to take me off your A List or talk mean to me.  It works like a charm.

I confess that Impulsive Addict and I were...well, I don't want to go into details, so just watch the vlog...

I confess that I proposed to Joey at the NKOTBSB concert.  If you're up for another video, you should watch this because it's full of epicness...Joey Mc upclose and personal, me and IA fangirling over him, my proposal, and my declaration of love.  It's good stuff.

My husband told me that I should take the video off of Facebook because it's "ridiculous and embarrassing".  I told him he knew what he was getting into when he married me...we should have worked "I promise to love you even when you're ridiculous and embarrassing" into our vows.

I have TONS more to confess, but this is getting lengthy, so I'll save it for another day.  Happy Friday!

Keep Austin Weird!

The ladies from Harried Mom of Four, Impulsive Addict, JennyKate's Spot, Seriously Shawn, The Texas Darlings and The V-Spot just spent a fun weekend in Austin, Texas.

Keepin' Austin Weird from Rebecca Darling on Vimeo.
Keep Austin Weird is Austin's slogan... so the six of us tried to do our part!  We shared our senses of humor, a lot of laughs and a ton of off the cuff comments {some too inappropriate to share here}. We decided to write down the funny comments that were said and turn them into a contest for all of our readers. The winner will receive Austin souvenirs, picked out by all six of us.
The contest is very easy. Below you will find six quotes. Match up the quote with who you think said it.  For example, if you think blogger A was the person who said quote #4, your answer is A=4. Leave your match-ups for A-F in ONE comment.

This contest is running on all six blogs, but there is no need to leave multiple entries, but go and visit all of these fab ladies. At the end of the contest, the reader with the most correct answers (or ties for the most correct answers) from each blog will have their name entered in a drawing. The random drawing will be held on Friday June 3rd and the winner will be announced that same day. (Then they can watch their mail box for the six separate little Austin-gifts that will be coming their way...)
Sounds fun, yes?   Here we go...

A. Becca- The Texas Darlings
B. JennyKate- JennyKates Spot
C. Jen-Harried Mom of Four
D. Vivienne- The V-Spot
E. Seriously Shawn
F. Impulsive Addict
Who said it...?
1.} Well clearly he wants to play a game called Just The Tip!
2.} Oh, that's even worse sober!
3.} He looks like a porn-star with that phony-tail and a 9th grade mustache!
4.} I'd rather be juvenile than an old fart!
5.} I think I just peed on my shoes a little.
6.} I don't know how to knick-knack my house so I don't know how to knick-knack me.

Have fun and good luck!
Here are some more quotes, just because they're too funny to go unmentioned!

We Want To Know Wednesday : Friends

Photobucket

I'm linking up today for the first ever WWTKW with Impulsive Addict, Mamarazzi, Shawn, and Janette. This should be a fun mid-week meme...hopefully keeping me out of hiatus status, so I stay off of Impulsive's "big trouble" list. Each week there will be a new set of questions for us to answer on our blogs and link up with the Fab Four!

Let's get started... (cue the video for some scrolling/reading music...my theme song for this post.)

Yep,  my friends are beautiful.  Wanna hear about them?  Here it goes...

IA, M, S, and J asked us to answer these Q's about our friends:
  1. Do you make friends easily?  Um, yeah.  I think I do.  I'm social and pretty easy to get along with.  I seem to have friends from every area/era of my life, so I think that equates to making friends easy.
  2. What 3 qualities are a MUST in a friend? 1 - honesty/trust.  You just can't have a good solid friendship without that.  2 - humor/fun.  I am a fun-haver...and I love to laugh, so if we can't do those things, our friendship is likely to be short-lived.  3 - common interests.  Let's face it without things to talk about or things to enjoy together, can you really have a "friendship"?  I think not.
  3. What makes YOU a good friend? I'm loyal and trustworthy.  I LOVE to have a good time...and I have no shame in sacrificing my own dignity to make that happen.  If we're friends once, we're friends for life.
  4. Have you ever met a bloggy friend in real life? Yes? Tell us about the meet up. No? Who would you love to meet? So, yes.  I've met several blogging/online friends.  The first person I ever met from the blogging world was Melissa.  She used to be a regular blogger on a blog called The Crazy Daisy.  You can read about my trip to Denver to surprise her for her birthday HERE.  I've also met Julia from Brainella.  We met up at the Starbucks in Owasso while she was here with her family visiting family.  We talked non-stop and had a great time!  Of course, I've met all of The RHOK ladies, who I met through blogging and a few of them ended up coming to my first Twilight premiere party I threw for New Moon.  The rest is history.  Plus, I've met a lot of bloggers through our RHOK Outs.  Meeting bloggers is a favorite pastime!  I can't wait for next month when I get to hang out with Impulsive, Shawn, Becca, Vivienne, and Jen for a couple of days in Austin!!  It's going to be epic!
  5. Who is your best friend? Tell us about them. I kinda hate this question.  I don't like putting my friends in categories, per say.  However, I'll answer to the best of my ability.
First, there is Jordana.  She is one of my oldest friends.  We've shared a million and one experiences together...the good, the bad, and the ugly.  We've known each other since grade school, but we've been best friends since I was in the 9th grade.  We went our separate ways at college...she attended OSU and I attended OU.  You would think that would have been a deal breaker, but we managed to stay tight although we attended rivaling universities.  We both married Michaels.  She's always been there for me...maid of honors at each others weddings, births of our children, funerals, etc...and although we don't see each other in person as much as we would like, I know she would be there for me, no matter what...and she knows the same is true for her.

Then, there is Trisha.  We met through blogging...and we've never met in person.  BUT she's my person.  She is who I tell my deepest darkest secrets to...like how much I weigh, and the dream I had last night involving Rob Pattinson and a volvo.  We talk on the phone occasionally, but we keep up with each other's daily lives through text.  We like share the same soul.  She's a kindred spirit.  I swear most of our text start out with one of us saying something and the other one saying "ME TOO"!  The top of my bucket list has Trisha's name on it...we must meet in person ASAP.

I can't leave my cousins out of this list of BFFs. My cousin Lindsay has been in my life since the day she was born.  We've always had a special bond and it reaches across the miles, as she moved away and left me a few years ago.  We share everything and we count down the days until we'll see each other again.

The same goes for my cousin Kristen.  She's my girl.  We share a love of shopping, Coach, and Starbucks.  She even indulges my Twilight addiction and went to The Twilight Convention with me last year.  She's getting married this September and I'm so looking forward to witnessing this next phase of her life.

And there is Alison.  My long lost cousin...who we didn't even know each other existed until she moved to Oklahoma from Arizona about 5 years ago.  It was kismet.  We were meant to be together.  We share an undying love for all things Twilight and Rob Pattinson.  She helped me plan my last premiere party...my partner-in-crime.  She is my sushi-lovin-twilight-watchin-movie-going-wine-drinkin friend.  She left me and went back to Phoenix, but we are still close and miss each other like crazy.  Can't wait until she's here in November for Breaking Dawn!!

And of course, there are my 3HOs3...Impulsive Addict (Skillz) and Mona (X-Rated).  I love these girls like Charlie Sheen loves crack and whores.  We have the best time together at our monthly GNOs.  I've known IA for about my whole life.  We go way back to grade school, but we've just recently reconnected and made it a point to hang out.  Mona and I have been friends since the 6th grade when she moved to Dub Town.  She was in my wedding and we've remained close friends through the years.

And of course there are all of you guys...I love my BBFs!  What would I do without you all?!

Be sure to stop by and link up for the first installment of WWTKW!Photobucket

8 Questions

Shawn from Seriously tagged me to answer the following 8 questions, tag 8 friends, and have them answer 8 new questions.

Thanks, Shawn!  This should be fun!

1. If you could go to one place, all expenses paid, where would you go?

Europe, but I wouldn't want to be held down to a specific locale.  I would just like to be able to go where the wind takes me...or train.  I've always wanted to visit my foreign exchange student from high school.  She's from Alsace, France.

That would be a good start!

2. Do you coupon? {I have friends that save a ton and I just can't figure it out} If you do what are your secrets?

I like coupons.  I like saving money.  But I'm not faithful to it.  I usually buy the paper and clip the coupons...and forget them when I go to the store.  I do love watching the 918 Coupon Queen on Channel 6 every morning.  Her savings fascinate me.

I have good intentions, but no follow through.

3. If you had one thing to do over what would it be and why?

I would have traveled more before I got married and had Isaiah.  It's so much harder to do when you have responsibilities and a family to care for.  I wouldn't change anything about my life, but I definitely would have taken advantage of more opportunities.

4. Are you an organized clean freak or a less than tidy "tomorrows another day, it can wait" kind of girl? What does your house look like right now?

OH my geez.  I wish she hadn't asked me this question.  The embarrassing truth is that at this very moment my house is a hot mess.  It's been a crazy month.  We went from vacation, to my Grandpa being really sick, to him passing and his funeral, to family galore, to back-to-school, and sports starting.  I have had ZERO time to clean and organize.  So, I'm usually a semi-organized-clean-freak-kinda-girl.  I say "semi", because I'm not nearly as clean freakish as I was prior to becoming a mom.  I realize now that it's OK for your house to appear lived in.  I prefer spotless and organized, but I'll accept pretty clean and picked-up.

No pics.  Sorry.  My house is only photographed when clean.

5. Toilet paper...Over or Under ? And, are you compulsive enough to change it somewhere else {I am}?

Over.  It's the only way and yes, I'll switch it, if given the chance.

6. You're talking to a group of people and someone has something in their teeth or their nose. Do you tell them, ignore it or excessively rub your tongue over your teeth or run your finger under your nose until they get the hint?

I'll politely and inconspicuously tell them.
"You've got something right there..."
I would want them to do the same!

7. You're out and about and you see a friends husband with another women. What do you do? Address him on the spot, call him the next day and give him an ultimatum or tell your friend?

Straight to the friend.  Especially if it's a close/best friend.  You better believe he's getting ratted out.  Again, I would expect the same in return.

8. What is the best piece of advice you've ever gotten? What was it and who gave it to you?

"This too shall pass" ~ My Granny

I tag:
Mom Mayhem
Dawn's Diversions
Brainella
Harried Mom of Four
This Is The Year
Sugarplum Creations
Carrie's Little World
6 Happy Hearts

My Questions are:
1. What are you most looking forward to about fall?
2. What are some current things on your to-do list?
3. Do you go to Starbucks?  If so, what's your favorite drink?
4. What is your favorite book right now?
5. What was your favorite movie from the summer?
6. Do you take pictures?  If so, what kind of camera do you use (even if it is your camera on your phone)?  Show us your recent favorite pic!
7. Who is your favorite celebrity?
8. Why did you originally start your blog?

RHOK Out!

Last night, the ladies from The RHOK had a RHOK Out event at Joe Momma's!
It was SO much fun!
If you are an Oklahoma blogger, you MUST attend the next event!  It's a blast!
What?  You don't believe me?
Well, let me show you.

Pictures speak louder than words.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B...as Leanna undresses and redresses right in the middle of McNellie's.  She changes clothes faster than Superman!

Of course, Pocket Edward makes an appearance!

And there is LOTS of texting/facebooking...wait...how did that get in there?  Well, I'm sure that they were just telling all of their friends who weren't there what a good time they were missing out on!  :P

There are WAY creepy guys reading goth poetry.  I'm pretty sure he just needed a big RHOK hug.  He was probably mistreated as a child...or locked in a closet.  Oh, but VERY entertaining.

The BEST part of the whole night...hanging with friends and laughing 'til your cheeks hurt!

Be sure to check out The RHOK...even if you're not from Oklahoma...or a housewife...but you must be real, because if you weren't, then that would just be weird.

Sunday in the Square

Last Sunday, we went to see Cirque Dreams Illuminations at the PAC.

It was our usual girls day, but this time we brought the little peeps along.

They absolutely LOVED it!  We had ages from 5-9 and they all really enjoyed themselves.  We highly recommend Cirque!

After the PAC, we went out to eat and let them run around like crazies play at Utica Square.
It is one of my FAVORITE places in Tulsa.  Me and my girls frequent the Square often...we love it there...and so do our kiddos!
We finished the day off with a Starbucks...

and sat and watched the sun go down...

and chatted until our hearts were content.
It was a good day♥

What is your favorite thing(s) to do with your friends?

This weekend, I'm on a fun little trip with my immediate and extended family.  Can't wait to share the pics when I get back!  Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!

307

So, today's post is #307.  I had planned to do something grand when I hit the big 300 mark, but with my busy schedule as of late, I didn't get around to it.  I looked back through my blog and was reminiscing on how all of this came to be...it was a nice trip down memory lane.  I originally started this blog because a few friends from Cafemom had transferred their daily rants over here to the blog world.  I touched a toe in the waters on May 29, 2008
My first blog post was short and sweet...to be honest, it was a lame excuse for a first blog post.  I was a little nervous.  I had been to blogs that had tons of followers, people they did NOT know in real life, and they were reading everything they wrote.  It seemed like a violation of privacy...it seemed CRAZY!  I wasn't sure what I wanted to write that I was willing to let the whole world (ok, not really because at the time I had NO followers) read.  So, fast forward to June, I was starting to get into the groove of this blog thing.  You just write whatever is in your head for the day.  I have lots of voices things in my head.  Surely I could come up with something interesting to talk about.  My first attempt at that was a blog I wrote about changes taking place in our family at that time...it was important to me...something I needed to get off my chest, it felt good.  I liked this blog thing, kind of like an online journal or diary.  I could do this.  I had been writing in a diary or a journal for years, so it started to get a little easier...feeling a little more natural with each post.  I can't remember when I got my first follower, but I'm pretty sure it was one of my sweet endearing friends from Cafemom who took pity on me and clicked the little follow button out of compassion.  Thank you!  I had no idea how good that would feel to have followers and get comments.  I had no idea that sweet words from "virtual friends" would mean so much.  I had no idea that I would turn some of those virtual friends into REAL-LIFE-flesh-and-blood-honest-to-goodness-FRIENDS.  So cool.  I ♥ blogging.

I know today my blog is a lot different than it was in May of 2008.  I've found some new obsessions interests, taken some new journeys, made lots of new friends, I have more than 3 followers, and I talk about Twilight...a lot lots of random things.  I know I probably drive you guys crazy with my passion for certain things...*achem*...and people.  I know that sometimes you guys don't get me, but I'm totally cool with that.  I'm just glad you stick around.  I would love to meet each and everyone of you in person someday.  I've formed bonds with so many of you...over various common interests.  So, as a way of saying "thanks for reading my ramblings and putting up with my nonsense", I would like to do a fun giveaway...not Twilight related...I know...SHOCKER!  (Ok, perhaps if the person who wins the giveaway is a Twilight fan I could throw in a little somethin' somethin'.)  The giveaway is just going to be a collection of some of my favorite pampering items, since most of my readers are girls, I figured you guys would enjoy them as well!

Here's how to enter:
  • Leave a comment - this is good for one entry.
  • Become a follower - this is good for one entry. (If you're already a follower, you'll get two extra entries.)
  • Re-post about the giveaway on your blog - this is good for two entries.
  • Re-post about the giveaway on Facebook or Twitter - this is good for one entry.
The giveaway will end on April 13th at noon.  I will use the Random Number Generator to select the winner and post it the next day!  Stop by tomorrow and I'll have a picture of all the things included in the giveaway.

Hope you're all having a great day!♥
