Does that make you think of Adam Sandler's song Lunch Lady?
*song break*
Slop, sloppy joe.
Sloppy joe.
Slop, sloppy joe.
Come on.
Sloppy joe.
Slop, sloppy joe.
Yeah.
Sloppy joe.
Sloppy joe.OK, back to the recipe. If you're not from Oklahoma, chances are you will not know what Head Country BBQ Sauce is. Bless your heart. 'Cause let me tell you, it's gooooooood! I guess, if you are one of the less fortunate and you don't have Head Country at your disposal, you'll have to improvise.
Stars Of The Show:
- Ground Hamburger or Ground Turkey - we prefer hamburger over the turkey because it has better flavor. I brown 2lbs for the 3 of us, so that we can have leftovers, but 1lb should make 4 good servings.
- Head Country BBQ Sauce
- Head Country BBQ seasoning (to taste)
- A whole onion
- 1 tbs. minced garlic (for 2lbs)
- 4 tbs. brown sugar (for 2lbs)
- Pickles
Act 1:
- Brown meat w/ of the onion finely chopped, minced garlic, and Head Country BBQ seasoning.
Act 2:
- Slice the other half of the onion for garnishment and really bad breath.
- After meat is brown, drain off any excess grease. I use a really low fat hamburger (usually 93/7), so I don't have to do this part.
- Stir in BBQ Sauce to desired consistency/thickness.
Grand Finale:
- Serve up on toasted buns.
- Garnish with onions and pickles...pickles are a MUST when you're eating Sloppy Joes or BBQ.
- Don't forget some yummy fries (oven baked, of course) or some Lays Potato Chips!
- Enjoy!

Girl, I totally broke into song mode! I LOVE the Sloppy Joe song!
Okay...I have NEVER made sloppy joe's before! *GASP* I have to tell you that your recipe sounds super delish and of course I have some HEAD COUNTRY in my fridge. If you're from these parts and DON'T, then you be ca-razy! YUM YUM YUM!
Ok...I'll try this....just for you..but after the snow storm. I don't have the HEAD COUNTRY seasoning packet and I will NOT be putting in the onion. BLEH!
Yumm, yumm....get in my tummy!
Nothing is better than sloppy joes. It says it in the title to get messy. LOL
we love sloppy joes around here. especially the kiddo, she will even do the whole, "manwich" in a can sauce...gag.
i have a more sophisticated pallet and your sounds goooood. but i am pretty sure we can't get that sauce out here. i may have to look on Amazon for it.
Head Country BBQ sauce is awesome. We stock up every time we go to Tulsa. :) I'm going to need to try making this...maybe Dominic will eat it. He's so freaking picky. That's probably why he's so skinny.
I LOVE sloppy joes but the hubby hates them. So we don't eat them around here :(
Can I come over the next time you make them?
~Becca
Seriously, IA? First, you never had a Christmas tree and now you say you have never made sloppy joes?
You're un-American.
Thanks for the recipe it sounds really good!

I daughter loves Sloppy Joes...I will have to try this because I am not a fan of Manwich.

Nice pull with the Sandler song. After all I am Tollbooth Willie's illegitimate grandson.
It actually makes me think of Billy Madison. I know how yous kids like 'em extra sloppy. Either way, any Sandler connection is great.
Well no wonder no one eats MY sloppy joes...I don't do it like you! Yours looks amazing..gonna try this!
OOooooo... sounds delicious. I'm starving...

Mmmm- Love some sloppy joes arounds here too! And yes - I totally thought of Adam Sandler's Sloppy Joe song ;)
I might have to make these simply because you quoted Adam Sandler :)
We ate sloppy joe's a lot when I was a kid. And I've been banned from making them by iKeith and here is why:
I took iKeith home to Dallas to meet my parents and he brought them an expensive ($50) bottle of wine. My Mother made sloppy joes to go with the wine.
He still proposed to me anyway.
Hoagies and grinders, hoagies and grinders...meatloaf sandwich!
We love sloppy joes around here, I need to make your recipe though!
That sounds magnificent! Nice pics, too.
Should I eBay the BBQ sauce? I don't live in OK.
I WANT some! I think you should fly your little hiny out here and make me some!
